We’ve seen just about every kind of shopping website there is and although many new shopping sites offer something cool or unique many of them still offer basically the same shopping experience as the othesr. Major shopping destinations such as Amazon offer customer reviews with extensive product descriptions and nice pictures with advanced search and suggested or related products as a standard.
ShopWiki is in fact something a little different. Accorrding to their site “ShopWiki is a guide designed to help consumers find specific products on the Internet with ease. Our consumer-written wiki helps you decide the best products to buy and where to buy them.“. When I first came across the site it appeared to be a shopping directory but its much more than that. It’s a shopping wiki with buying guides written by everday users like you and me who happen to know something about a particular product.
As an example the Home Furnishings wiki has dozens of guides on various home and furniture buying guides such as Bed Linen Basics or my favorite Desk Lamps cause lighting is so important for people that write a lot. the buyers guides are well written and to the point.
Another unique feature about Shop Wiki is the fact they spider the entire web for new products to add to their shopping engine and you don’t pay for a listing in this site so big box retailers or name brands can’t just buy their way to the top like so many other shopping websites today. ShopWiki actually generates revenue from Google style ads on the site and not by hyping a product they don’t actually like.
It makes you feel like you’re getting an honest review when you read the details they have on their products and it’s nice not to have a heavy sales push from an online shopping site. I think ShopWiki.com will be a great place to research before you buy this holiday season.
