I have worn eyeglasses since I was about 11 years old I think. I’ll have to ask mom to know for certain but it’s been more than 25 years I have required corrective vision. I have not always worn glasses and as a matter of fact I went most of that time with contact lenses.
I purchased a new pair of eyeglasses about 3 years ago when my eye doctor told me that my eyes needed a break from the contact lenses. Apparently my eyes were not breathing well enough and the blood vessels in my eyes had risen to the surface. I had redeyes and I wasn’t on drugs of any kind.
It was with hesitation I chose my first pair of eyeglasses and I went all out and spent over $400 on a pair that looked good on me. I got a pretty sweet deal when the place offered a buy one get one free deal and I took a second pair of sunglasses for outdoors trips. I use them whenever we go outside and they offer me great stylish UV protection from the damaging rays of South Florida sun and make it easier for me to wear eyeglasses by offering me options for the various conditions I find myself in. It’s still kinda weird that sometimes I’ll end up in the evening still wearing my prescription sunglasses because I forgot to grab my replacement eyeglasses.
My next pair won’t cost as much and I may buy the next pair online at a discount eyeglass retailer like Zenni Optical which offers complete eyeglasses for as low as $8. They have 100’s of other styles for an average of $40 per pair which would allow me to have purchased 10 different pairs for the money I spent on my current pair. With 10 pairs of glasses I would certainly have a pair for every occasion and more choices to complement my wardrobe.
I never realized how different a pair of glasses can make a man look until I started wearing them more as an older adult and I’m interested in trying out a few different styles just to see how people react. I noticed the pair I have now makes me look smarter somehow and people seem to treat me as such with them. Whatever it is the glasses seem to draw a little extra attention that everyone eenjoys having. My next investment in eyeglasses will most likely be a variety of inexpensive glasses from an online shop like Zenni, check out their review here, and I’ll try different styles to make me look like different people. i wonder if I can find a pair of glasses that make me look dumb?
