Thanksgiving is a happy time for most of us and this year seems extra special for many reasons. As hard as things are for many of Americans as we face the worst financial crisis of our lives we still have so much to be thankful for. We as Americans are blessed in more than financial wealth and maybe losing sight of this other wealth is what has created the financial ailments we face today.

America is a beautioful country with a bounty of natural wealth and resources. America has some of the most fertile farm lands, majestic mountains and beautiful beaches in the world. Americans really is a melting pot and we are the most diverse culture in the world with people from every nook and cranny of the world calling themselves an American.

America has much to be thankful for but maybe the most impressive thing we have done this year was to elect an African American to the highest office in the land. President Elect Barack Obama is reason to give thanks no matter who you voted for. The fact that America has matured to the level where we can accept a non white in the power position means we as a nation and as a people are growing. The diversity of America is melting us all into a more accepting people willing to take a man or woman for who they are and not for what they look like.

Give thanks today for what you have in your life and your family but also give thanks for America and what she has given to you this year.
