I guess it may have already happened and it depends on when you first came to hear of it but it certainly seems tome that homeschooling has hit the mainstream. Homeschool kids are not so unusual any longer and social acceptance of homeschooled children has gotten much easier with the high level performances of a few talented homeschooled kids. I have noticed an uptick in the number of articles and mentions of homeschooling in the media this past year and it definitely seems up to me. I don;t necessarily track these things but it is of interest to me. We’re not the most diligent homeschoolers and our kids have been to public schools but we do take their education seriously and we do school from home. I read alot and articles liek the one below always catch my eye.
Homeschooling has soared in recent years
Kids from toddlers to teens raced around the Wallingford playground Tuesday to celebrate not going back to school, the day before most Seattle youngsters are preparing to go back to class. But that didn’t mean the kids on the playground weren’t pumped about their education. For the kids, who are part of the Seattle Homeschool Group — one of the largest secular groups of its kind in the area — every day presents an opportunity to learn.
“I like it because I can play and learn at the same time,” said Hanz Hosler, 8, taking a break from playing Capture the Flag with about two dozen other kids.
