The television and it’s use in raising kids is a hot subject amongst parents worldwide. Statistics show children watch far more television now then in any generation before and kids today get hours of unsupervised television use each day. Some parents find a need to use the tv to give them time to deal with all the other things we manage in life but some allow it to take over and the tv spends more time with their children then they do. As with anything else in life the proper balance of television use and other activities is important to your child’s development. Why not try music instead of TV?
Music is an excellent alternative to television and often overlooked by many parents as a great way to relax children while exposing them to new sounds instead of commercial images. Parents have a great selection of music to use to entertain kids with the volume of music available in the public domain but today’s information overloaded children thirst for new forms of entertainment and 60 year old lullabies and classical music are not as popular as in generations past. With the rise of television giants like American Idol everyone wants to be a performer or entertainer and what better way for your kids to pass an hour then to listen to music and possibly inspire their own artistic abilities? Having your kids listen to music jut might bring out the musician in them and listening to other children sing is a great way to get them excited about what they are listening to.
Finding the right music for kids is not always easy and their seems to be a scarcity of quality family friendly music featuring kids as the performers.
